Local developer Marc Jackett has ventured into Stroudsburg borough with his recent purchase of Kay’s Tavern Sept. 28. Located on Main Street, the building boasts the business with liquor license and 10 rooms above it.
Kay’s Tavern has been a landmark, self-described “Dive Bar” since 1973. It was most certainly known for its hours of operation, welcoming patrons to the smoking allowed business from 7 a.m. to 1:30 a.m. most days of the week.
“We plan on getting rid of a lot while cleaning it and get rid of … smoking,” said Jackett. “It catered to a bit of a rougher crowd and we’d like to make it a more inviting neighborhood bar for everyone. We’ll also renovate the rooms above into additional rental units.”
The new owner intends to rename and re-launch the business with a small bar menu and newly renovated apartments in the near future.
