Have you gotten a suspicious text recently in Mississauga or Brampton?
It’s been reported that some residents are getting a text message claiming to be from Costco and offering an annual cashback reward if the user visits a suspicious link.
“There is currently a text scam circulating that asks members to click on a link to claim their Capital One Costco Mastercard Cash Back reward. The text is a SCAM,” Costco said.
“Do not answer the text or click on the link as it is not from Costco or Capital One.”
Another circulating text scam asks members to click on a link to claim their 2% Executive Member reward. Costco says this reward is mailed directly to members, not provided via text.
Other Costco scams include survey scams, Facebook scams, and fake job offers. More information is available at Costco’s website.
Residents who receive one of these scams are advised to:
- Never respond to emails that cannot be verified.
