When Dave and Alice DeGeorge sold their Erie home in a hurry early this year, they looked for a short-term rental until they could find a new home.
“We had six months and thought that was plenty of time, but it wasn’t. Buyers were like piranhas on raw meat,” she said.
The DeGeorges were in the midst of the high-demand, low-inventory sales mania that hit Erie and the country. The DeGeorges said the fad of buying homes sight unseen and accepting deals with no inspections wasn’t for them.
Time marched on and suddenly, their six-month window was slipping away.
“At one point, we considered living in a 19-foot storage trailer we owned,” she said.
To locate a rental, Alice DeGeorge posted a sign on her Facebook page and got some responses.
