Exeter McDonald’s getting a hi-tech transformation


McDonald’s is looking to give one of its Exeter branches a modern makeover, with more seating and speedier service.

The fast-food giants have submitted a planning application to make changes to their drive-thru set-up.

The restaurant in question is on Stone Lane Retail Park on Marsh Barton in the Alphington area of the city..

The application is for the incorporation of side by side ordering, a brand new patio area and modern ordering screens with overhead canopies.

Images contained within the application show multiple ‘speaker posts’ so more than one vehicle can order at the same time.

They also show large double screens and the removal of certain parking bays.

No comments have been made either for or against the proposals as yet.

The area is well-known as being a traffic bottleneck, with vehicles often spilling out onto Marsh Barton Road as they queue to access both McDonald’s and other shops in…
