Signal provides details of its impressive guerrilla marketing action on Facebook and Instagram on its corporate blog, “The Instagram ads Facebook won’t show you”. The company attempted to place multi-variant targeted ads on Facebook and Instagram based on multiple variables such as location, age, sociodemographic variables, interests and behavior, and to insert in those ads the values of those variables based on which the ads were being generated.

The disturbing impact for users who receive one of those advertisements knows that whoever is on the other end, in this case Facebook, does indeed know a lot — possibly too much — about them.
