Less homes for sale, prices stay high

Home inventory in the Knoxville area fell below 2,400 properties for the first time since July, according to data from the Knoxville Area Association of Realtors.

“To this point, we’ve seen no evidence that a surge in new listings propelled by homeowners exiting pandemic forbearance will come to fruition, suggesting inventory is likely to continue declining for the rest of the year,” said Hancen Sale, governmental affairs and policy director for KAAR.

KAAR tracks statistics for a 12-county region.

Though prices usually dip in the fall, that hasn’t happened this year. Sale said that’s further evidence housing demand remains high.
