A woman has been arrested for allegedly duping more than 1,400 people into making bogus online purchases for acrylic Japanese dolls worth about 2.3 million baht.
Pol Lt Gen Samran Nualma, the Metropolitan Police Bureau commissioner, identified the suspect as Kanita Khiewkham, 25, who was nabbed at an apartment in Wang Thong Lang district yesterday.
She is wanted on an arrest warrant issued by a Thon Buri court on charges of fraud and importing false information into the computer system, he said.
Ms Kanita was arrested after a website called chaladohn.com received complaints from more than 500 people claiming they had been duped, he said.
They had ordered acrylic Japanese dolls from the suspect via her Twitter account “@HaruHana_Shop” and paid 500 to 3,000 baht for each item, but none have received any of the dolls.
