Orange County Business Council taps Whittier banker as new CEO – Orange County Register

Orange County’s leading business association has named a Whittier banker who lives in Huntington Beach as its new leader.

Jeffrey Ball, founder, president and CEO of Friendly Hills Bank in Whittier and the former chair of the California Bankers Association, won board approval Thursday evening to become the Orange County Business Council’s next president and chief executive officer on Jan. 1.

He replaces Lucy Dunn, 68, who is retiring at the end of the year after 16 years at the business council’s helm.

Ball has deep ties in the banking world but also has been active in educational circles, co-founding a Huntington Beach charter elementary school and serving in various positions with schools in Whittier, Irvine and Huntington Beach. Ball also served on the business council’s board between 2003-06 and is a current member of its Economic Forecast Committee.
