KUALA LUMPUR (Feb 11): Petroliam Nasional Bhd (Petronas) said it has been made aware of the unauthorised use of the Malaysian national oil company’s name and logo in the promotion of investment platforms on the Internet.
In a notice on its website on Thursday (Feb 10), Petronas said these investment schemes purport to provide opportunities to profit by investing in “Petronas shares” with amounts ranging from RM1,000 to RM4,000, or generate a second-income with just a fee of US$250 (about RM1,047).
“We appeal to the public not to respond to these schemes.
“Neither Petronas nor any of our subsidiaries within the group of companies are involved or associated in any way with these websites and social media accounts,” Petronas said.
Petronas however did not specify in the notice, the names of the websites and social media accounts involved in the online investment…
