TROY, N.Y. — Tara Rainstrom invites you to come to “where the wild and weird gather” at Refuge Event Space, her new venture for community gathering. Located at 1813 5th Ave. in historic downtown, Refuge is the kind of space where just about anything could happen – and that’s by design.
“As long as it does no harm, you’re welcome to do what you do,” Rainstrom said of the space. “I envision it as a place to gather in the community where you feel invited and welcome, where you can create and express yourself.”
Rainstrom is no stranger to community gatherings. She’s been helping to organize them for most of her life.
“I’ve been facilitating community events since I was a teenager,” she explained. “Fundraisers, meetings, proms, all sorts of things. I’ve been hosting women’s circles for three years now, and at the end of 2019, I decided I really wanted a space to do more movement classes and more community activities.”
