Can Scam Calls Be Traced

Your cell phone suddenly rings and then buzzes. It is telling you that there is an incoming text message. But, are you receiving an important call or text message? Or is it just spam?

It might be a call or text message that says that you need the next best insurance policy or that you should get a home security system. It could be a scam, or it could be a message that says that you have been approved for a loan.

Unfortunately, many of us have received these types of calls and texts. They are annoying, and there is no way to stop them. However, under the TCPA (Telephone Consumer Protection Act), some penalties can be imposed on those who violate the rules.

Can You Trace The Scam Caller?

Most of the time, the people receiving these calls and texts are not aware that they are violating the TCPA. Two of the most typical questions I get asked about these calls and texts are “Who is calling me?” and “Can I trace a scam call?”.

One of the most important questions people ask when conducting an investigation is, “Can Scam Calls Be Traced?” This article will provide a couple of free methods that can be used to gather information about the company behind these calls.

Try Calling a Live Representative

You can get valuable information from a live representative by either answering the call or asking questions. Being able to act on the information that the caller provides can help you make an informed decision.

Getting the company’s name, location, and website can be incredibly useful. However, if the representative does not provide a website or refuses to tell you where the company is located, it usually means that the call is a scam. Fly-by-night companies are not worth pursuing.

When you contact a representative, you can ask them to send you an email so that you can follow up later. This can provide you with helpful information about the company. Sometimes, the signature block of the representative identifies a website or other contact information.

Try Looking up For The Phone Number That is Calling You

To avoid getting bogged down by the details of the call or text message, it is essential to thoroughly research the phone number that appears on your caller ID. In some cases, the number is spoofed, which means it displays a different area code than the real one. It is also challenging to track the calls that have been made using this method.

You can also try a Google search for the phone number to see if other people have complained about it. In some cases, you can find the name of the company that the call originated from.

If a text message is from a short code, such as 5, 6, or 8, resources such as the US Short Code Directory can help you identify the person who sent it.

Find out About Their Website

If you can get a hold of the website from the caller, you can then use this information to identify the person who is behind the call. You can also check the ownership information of the website through the Internet Corporation for the Domain Name System.

The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) website provides various contact information for its users.

Google is also a handy tool to help identify the people who are behind a website. Simply perform a search in quotes of the website’s name. For instance, if you are looking for a website that is associated with a texter or caller, you can simply type in “www.xyz.com” in the search results.

People who are associated with the company can be found in this feature, as well as other individuals who have posted comments about the company on social media. These types of sources of information can also help you determine who is calling and whether or not they are worth pursuing.

Is It Worth Tracing The Scam Caller?

After you have gotten in touch with the company behind the calls and texts, the most critical question is whether or not they are worth pursuing. Free internet resources can also help you answer this question.

Besides being a great resource, LinkedIn can also provide you with a lot of helpful information. You can easily find the company name and its employees by typing in the phrase “company name” or “LinkedIn” in different quotes. Doing so can also provide you with important information about the company’s success.

Having a good look at the profiles of the company’s employees can also help you identify potential witnesses for your case. It can also provide valuable information on how the company places its calls or text.

Unfortunately, many of the calls and texts we receive are from companies that usually fly by night. However, by spending a little time investigating these types of calls and texts, you can help prevent them from occurring to you or your client.
