Scottish shell firm ‘holding €36m from scams’ | Scotland

A Scottish shell firm was used to launder tens of millions of pounds scammed from Britons and other Europeans over the internet, prosecutors have alleged.

For more than a year law enforcement agencies across the continent have been working together to investigate what they believe was a huge online investment fraud.

The German-led investigators say more than €10 million a month was stolen through fake “get-rich-quick” websites promising returns of up to a hundredfold. They have identified hundreds of victims, including many in the UK.

Now prosecutors in Ukraine say nearly €36 million from the alleged scheme were “accumulated” in the bank accounts of a single Scottish limited partnership (SLP).

The shell firm, called Remini Consulting, is just the latest of its kind to feature
