Have you ever received a call or email from someone claiming to be Amazon? It’s most likely a scam, the company warns customers. 

Earlier in the year, the Better Business Bureau warned of reports that scammers are posing as Amazon employees, calling people and claiming to need information about their account or that something is wrong with an Amazon order.

For that specific con, scammers call with an automated message, pretending to be Amazon customer service. They tell you that there was a fraudulent charge on your account, then they tell you they can help you fix it. 

The Better Business Bureau said the end goal is getting your personal information.

“The con artists will either outright ask for credit card and account login details. Or, they will request remote access to your computer under the guise of ‘helping’ to solve the issue,” the BBB said.
